The Aylesford Bulls Ladies made it six wins in a row at the weekend when they beat Wimbledon Ladies 17-3.
Aylesford Bulls ladies travelled to Wimbledon for what is always a tough encounter. The Bulls also had to stretch the squad as they were forced to make ten changes through unavailability and injury.
The game kicked off in thick fog which made it difficult to see from one side of the pitch to the other. Wimbledon belied there league position throughout making it very difficult for the new look Bulls to settle or to get into any rhythm.
However the Bulls did start strongly and after early pressure No 8 Jade Binskin-Barnes making her first start for the club crashed over under the posts following a set move in the 22. Back rower Liz Philp added the extras.
Following a period of play in the middle of the park with both teams giving away numerous penalties, knocking on and turning over ball and Wimbledon showing the power of their heavy pack at scrum time centre Rafica Schneider emerged from the fog on the far side of the pitch to race over in the corner from 40 metres out after 25 minutes.
For the rest of the half the Bulls were held in there own 22 as Wimbledon piled on the pressure they managed to come away with a penalty to leave the half time score at 12-03.
The second half was rather uneventful as the fog got thicker and neither side could get a strangle hold on the game. A speculative miss pass out wide from fly half Lisa Bohrmann found its way to wing Sally Parker who made strong break up the flank.
Inter passing between Parker, Philp, and Schneider ended after seven passes with Schneider going over for her second on 55 minutes for what would be the last points of the game. The final 25 minutes passed with out any major events as both sides tussled in midfield. A long kick and chase from replacement wing Vicky Benbow almost unlocked the Wimbledon defence late on but it wasn’t to be.
